Opened in 2010, 5-star Hotel Bagués is the result of a collaboration between Bagués-Masriera Jewelers and Derby Hotels Collection.
The 31-room boutique hotel is situated on La Rambla in a palace designed in 1850 by the architect Josep Fontserè i Domènech. Previously it had housed one of Bagués-Masriera’s historic jewelery shops and part of their studio.
Rooms
Each room holds a unique work of art, such as an engraving, jewel or one of Lluís Masriera’s drawings. The Jewel Suites, on the top floor, have their own terraces with a solarium, jacuzzi and views of La Rambla. An iPod dock and flat-screen satellite TV are included. One superior room is adapted for guests with disabilities, as is the rooftop pool.
Common Areas
The hotel’s common areas are connected by a central patio with abundant natural light, which is available to the whole building thanks to the glass floors that allow it to pass through. In the corridors and common areas there is a fresh interpretation of Art Nouveau glass murals, in which solid wenge wood has been used to give a mosaic effect.
The Terrace
The roof terrace with plunge pool offers splendid views of Bethlehem Church, Barcelona Cathedral, Santa Maria del Mar and La Rambla.
The Bagués-Masriera museum and function room
On the first floor the Bagués-Masriera museum and function room houses the most complete exhibition of Lluís Masriera’s work in the world, spanning from the late 19th century through to the late 20th century.
The Bistrot El Regulador
Headed by Chef Raul Sánchez, the bistrot El Regulador at Hotel Bagués offers a menu of carefully chosen dishes, designed so that diners can enjoy the finest produce from the Boquería market. The bistrot can cater to 35 diners and offers a non-stop kitchen service throughout the day and until the small hours. It is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and for those who simply want to have a drink.
Gym and Spa Area
As well as the swimming pool and solarium on the roof terrace, Hotel Bagués has a gymnasium and a sauna in its spa area.
The Meeting Room
The museum and function room can be an ideal place for a short talk, a cocktail party or a business lunch. Additionally, Hotel Bagués has a useful meeting room on the basement floor. Like the rest of the hotel, this room is quiet, peaceful and very private. It has its own kitchen facilities and all the necessary technology (projector, screen, IT support, sound system, etc.). Measuring 36 m2, it can accommodate up to 25 people.
Nearby Attractions
A wealth of attractions sit within a short walk of the hotel: we recommend visiting La Virreina Centre de la Imatge for some culture and for a special meal pop down the street to Michelin-starred Dos Palillos.
