Illustrious travel writer Duncan Rhodes, the man behind leading city guides Barcelona Life and Urban Travel Blog has launched an exciting new venture: Barcelona Wine Tours.
With this latest project, Duncan draws on his extensive knowledge of the world of Catalan wines to bring together a selection of food and wine tasting activities.
The hand selected experiences reach beyond Barcelona to also cover the nearby Penedès and Priorat regions.
Here are some of the adventures that will connect you with with your inner oenophile:
Create Your Own Cava This is a half-day tour to a family-run winery in the Penedès region where you will learn all about Cava production and get to take home a bottle that you made yourself!
Montserrat & Wine Tour This trip combines a visit to Montserrat mountain (famous for its 10th century Benedictine abbey and spectacular views) with wine tasting on the grounds of a medieval castle.
Barcelona Wine Tasting This private wine tasting class begins with a fun game of trying to identify various scents from small bottles. The experienced sommelier then provides samples of five outstanding Spanish and Catalan vintages while explaining background of each. The wines are knowingly paired with some delicious local cheeses, such as Urgelia from the Catalan Pyrenees.
Catalan Gastronomy Tour This walking tour through Barcelona’s Sant Antoni neighborhood introduces you to 16 local dishes and wines at carefully selected bars, bodegas, restaurants and markets.
