Grup Iglesias and Rodrigo Messi (the oldest brother of Lionel Messi) joined forces to create the town themed Bellavista del Jardín del Norte restaurant.
Different areas such a church, a fountain, a newspaper kiosk, a pub and even a barbershop each have their unique functions. For example guests can refill their water (with or without gas) at the town fountain, bearing the name of Messi’s hometown of Rosario. The newsstand area is perfect for having breakfast or a vermut while browsing popular daily newspapers. The local pub is designed for playing games (including vintage arcade games) and watching football matches.
Situated in the heart of Eixample in a former headquarters of advertising giant DDB, the restaurant spans one thousand square meters spread over two floors and an equally expansive garden.
The concept is based on what Juan Carlos Iglesias describes as a ‘gastronomic crossroads’. Grup Iglesias uses some of the most successful recipes of its different establishments, such as marinated oysters in the style of Espai Kru, tapas favorites from Cañota and octopus dishes inspired by Bobo Pulpín.
One of Messi’s favourite dishes, Milanesa napolitiana a caballo (breaded veal with a tomato and cheese sauce) also features on the menu. The kitchen is led by by chef Monica Morales and executive chef Rafa Morales (with pior experience in the kitchen of the legendary El Bulli).
